My name is Tom Guilmette and I work in television and film. I love what I do and to keep this very simple, I will post some of the cool stuff I have done thus far in my career.
This site is my online resume and also a place where people can discuss and learn television and film production. I am not an expert, but I have experience and I have worked along side some of the most talented people in the industry. I also get to play with very expensive equipment!
Take a few minutes to look at the content buried on this website. Begin by looking at my work by clicking the links to the left. If you feel adventurous, try wading though my very detailed blog.
If you have a question or comment, please use the forum to start a discussion or post the text in the comment section under the blog or video page.

Tom which camera is better the 5D Mark 11 or the 7D EOS
if you want 60p slo mo go w/ 7d. if you want full frame sensor w/ 24p and 30p go with 5dmk2. i love the 5dmk2.
Hi Tom, Congrats on all the success! I look forward to viewing some of your new updates. I wanted to find out if you had a chance to take a look at the new NXCAM line from Sony. Particularly the NX5U with the new AVCHD workflow. I plan on buying one but i wanted to find out what you thought about it beforehand. Also i heard of a possible inherent issue having somethin to do with “Buffer Overflow” when doing simultaneous recording in HD to HD from the Flash Drive and SD Card bay with the NX5.
i have not tested the nxcam. i am working with xdcam ex and xdcam disk systems now with very great results.
Today I ended up at your website by accident…spent half hour looking at your videos here and Vimeo…congratulations! I am in New Haven CT…your site is in my Firefox’s bookmarks. Thanks Tom

i so your tip to go on the green possession on the camera mode and its sound brilliant ID.
thanks for your help
will be in touch.
Alon Grego
P.S. great job on the slow motion stuff
What do you think of cameras like Sony’s NEX-VG10?
Hey Tom,
Inspired by your passion and work, especially the 5D Mk II. I am looking to purchase the cine slider dolly.
I have a red rock micro setup similar to yours in the photos w your cine slider.
What is the blue base plate (and rails setup) which you have attached to your Giotto plate?
Also can your setup rotate on the base plate (90deg) so you can track along the cine slider with the 5D facing the same way you are moving?
Once again your knowledge and attitude is inspirational.

Tom,
For your upcoming film, “The Missing Link”, maybe we can help in the distribution. Our company NCM (ncm.com), and Fathom are in joint venture with all of the major circuits, and recently we have found that extreme sports is something that is bringing in audiences.
If so, let me know, I’ll send you the contacts.
Thanks!
Joe
