I shot with the EX1, Letus Extreme, my bag of Nikon lenses and my dolly near Boston at an old house built in the mid 1800s.

I was asked to shoot a bunch of HD footage that would be used in the upcoming TLC crime show, called Personal Justice. The production company putting the show together is True Entertainment. The shots I recorded in XDCAM will be effected and mixed with graphics produced and edited by a graphics/production house in Boston called One80 Visual.

The show first aired on January 7th, 2009 on The Learning Channel in HD. The first season will continue to air every Wednesday at 10pm EST. Here is the actual show open from TLC HD created by ONE80:

I shot (with excellent help) in the pouring rain with only an umbrella protecting the camera. I used the matte box and follow focus. I sometimes asked the producer if he would pull focus for me on dynamic shots. Here is one of the untreated and unedited shots:

spiders everywhere!

The basement of this place looked like nobody had been down there in over century. It was full of spiders and their webs. I thought I was in the final scene of “Arachnophobia” and started to look for the pulsating spider hive full of eggs! The house was the perfect location for this project.

I shot almost 14 GBs of 1080 30p footage. I edited a short film, called “Gone Missing”, with some of the footage I shot on location.

Check out the show on TLC, the editing is excellent and the stories are interesting yet terrifying real-life drama.
