New England Patriots Cheerleader Swimsuit Calendar
Have you ever seen the Bill Murray movie, “Groundhog Day”? If you have not, put it in your Net Flix que and watch it. Basically, Murray’s character is stuck in a single day. Every time he wakes up, he is greeted by the same song on the radio, the same people in the hotel and on the street and must relive groundhog day over and over.
Well, I wish I could relive June 14th, 2003 over and over. That entire week was great, actually. And for those five days, I had trouble keeping my shirt on! I just found these pictures buried on a dusty hard drive and decided to post the documentary on my site for your enjoyment. This may have happened many years ago, but it is certainly blog-worthy.
I was hired by FOX Sport Net to DP and shoot a behind the scenes documentary about the making of the New England Patriots swimsuit calendar in Daytona Beach, Florida. The BEST GIG EVER might I add.
I worked with a second camera, a local from Florida, and we shot every waking minute of the week long experience alongside the digital still photographers shooting for the calendar. We used two Sony PD-150 DVCAMs. This was way before HDV! MJ was my sound man and I think he was yawning when the shutter clicked on that picture. The documentary was released early 2004 when the calendars hit the shelves. I have posted the standard definition 4:3 documentary to my site:
The days were long, but that did not matter. I do not think I slept more than 5 hours the entire time I was down in Florida. I had tons of motivation to run around and shoot during golden hour. I just hope another gig like this is just around the corner!
The ladies were wonderful and I will never forget the experience. I really enjoyed walking the beach with one of them… 5 comments to New England Patriots Cheerleader Swimsuit Calendar |

Wow. and they paid you for this?
@Craig:
Yeah. And believe it or not, there are more gigs out there like this.
If you ever get a gig like that again, I’ll fly there from Alaska on the next flight to assist for free. I swear, I’m there.
You are a lucky man
Tom:
Outstanding-I envy you with that shoot! And Punxtawney might as well be Siberia compared to Daytona Beach! Been there (right after the groundhog made his annual prediction)back in 1976 and it was exactly like the film depicted! Daytona Beach anyday, anytime!
