Hi im about to make a short film and was thinking of either buying a Sony HVR HD1000e or a Sony FX1000 with a Jag35 adapter. I dont know very much about cameras but can i just attach the JAG and start shooting?
Thanks

the letus mini is worth the cost and it flips the image for you! it is super sharp and works decent in low light. just remember, it only works on the smaller cameras like the sony xr500. it will not work on a sony ex1/ex3 because it is too small. the letus extreme will work on both.

not sure if the magnet trick will work on the xr500. i have not tried it.

here is my view on the jag and the letus.

the jag35 is cheap and will work with the hvx with the proper acromat glass. you get what you pay for. the jag35 is cheap, it works, but it takes more light and it is not as sharp as the letus.

the letus mini price dropped. i just tested it a few weeks ago and was very impressed by the sharp image. it only loses about a half stop of sensitivity.

if you have the money, go for the letus adapter.

hey. i wanted your opinion on using the jag35 with the panasonic hvx. according to jag35 latest blog they say that they are compatible? whats your views on this? still worthing holding back and going for the letus/brevis etc. why do you say that it will never replace your letus? im looking to buy it to film a client who wants a very "filmic" look, i will be shooting mostly inside so i check the location before hand, and if needed, persuade the "big dogs" in the music studio to let me bring some lights in. thanks for reviewing, very helpful kind sir!

i would buy the jag35pro and a manual nikon 50mm f1.4 lens. this lens is a good all-around lens and 'fast' in film terms. it will work ok in the low light inside. you will still need to provide light however. be sure to get the nikon mount for the jag35 pro and look for an old nikon on ebay.
