Mike Royko Short 16mm Film
For those of you who do not know, Mike was a witty and gritty writer who worked for the Chicago Tribune for many years. His work covered the hard-edge side of life and many people around the world loved to read his columns. Mike died in 1997 but he will be forever remembered by his words. I was hired to shoot a behind the scenes feature of “A November Farewell”. I will also help DP the project. This documentary will be shot on film and most of it will take place at a small cabin on a lake in Wisconsin where Mike spent time with his late wife. I will try to post as much to my website as I work and shoot out there. I am not sure if I will have access to the internet, but when I do I will post to my blog. I am working with over 30 people (some are students from Columbia College) on this project so I am sure I will have some interesting stories when I get back! 5 comments to Mike Royko Short 16mm Film |

UPDATE OCTOBER 6TH…
All is well in Wisconsin. I am staying at a cabin on a lake and we just finished three days of shooting with 16mm and 8mm film. I met a bunch of great people from Columbia College and I am simply amazed at how film making on this level is so precise. I am very tired so I will not talk much about it now…
I am headed to Chicago tomorrow to work on a project with a very talented artist.
Tom
This is a short film on spike.com that was inspired by Mike’s – Mary and Joe: Chicago Style.

@Dooley: Thanks. I will post a blog on this film as soon as it is released to the public.
You mean the film? It is released to the public, on Spike.com. Maybe I’m confused. LOL. The actress that plays Mary, Rebecca Spence, just shot “Public Enemies” with Johnny Depp.
“A November Farwell” is one of the saddest and best pieces of writing I have ever read. Good luck with it.
@Dooley: I mean “A November Farewell”. I was asked to hold off before releasing behind the scenes video and talking about the new film before it is released to the public.
