I have just finished setting up the Boston Garden to cover Bruins NHL hockey this afternoon. After the game, we strike the television OB truck and I drive back home. I then pack all my gear to catch a flight out of Logan Airport Sunday morning non-stop to Las Vegas. I will be testing a demo version of the ContourHD “wearable” HD video camera. But I have not received it yet from the company. I have a shoot this weekend with a World Cup downhill mountain biker. So I had to come up with something! One thing that changed me at the National Association of Broadcasters as a creative professional and a person was not what I expect. I expected, heading to Vegas, that the equipment was going to be the most important and interesting part of the show. It was not, it was the people I met at the [...] Finally, after many years of reading trade magazines drooling over cutting-edge equipment, surfing the internet for new gear leaks, and listening to countless television engineers talk about it… I AM GOING. Tuesday January 13th around 11am… Joe Roti was calling me. A good friend of mine, I met him in Chicago while working on two projects for Norman Skul. He was Norman’s long time friend and Joe was the “fireman” helping Norm keep his dream on track. |
